KITCHEN COMMITTEE
Responsible to: Leadership Board
Membership: Four persons elected by the congregation. Chairperson(s) chosen by the committee at the beginning of each year.
Term of Office: Two years. Two persons elected each year.
Responsibilities: Oversee the use of the kitchen as well as making sure it is adequately supplied and kept clean and in useable condition.
1. Designate one of the committee members as kitchen hostess and post the name on the
kitchen bulletin board. The length of time as hostess and the frequency of rotation is
left to each committee. The hostess should:
a. Keep an inventory of kitchen items borrowed by church members for personal
use.
b. Launder towels, tablecloths, dishcloths as necessary.
c. Keep the kitchen adequately supplied with paper products, cleaning supplies,
coffee, etc.
d. Schedule kitchen clean up days as needed.
2.Prepare and maintain a sign up sheet and schedule of persons to be responsible for the coffee time between Sunday school and the worship service.
3. Arrange for at least one person to be present, if needed, when facilities are used by
non-member groups (especially if the dishwasher is to be used). Have someone
available to assist when the kitchen is used by a group from our church if such
assistance is requested.
4.Check inventory regularly and make sure that missing items are replaced.
5. Coordinate approximately one potluck per month (the potlucks for congregational
meetings and joint services with Vida Nueva are included in 1/month). Kitchen
committee will communicate the expectations regarding table service for each
potluck. The Kitchen committee is responsible for organizing the preparation and
cleanup of these monthly potluck dinners.
Note: The Fellowship Committee or other groups are responsible for organizing
the preparation and cleanup for potluck dinners which are scheduled by them.
6. Work with other groups (e.g., Vida Nueva, SEKCC, etc.) to ensure that
our kitchen is shared generously and is maintained in a condition that benefits all.
7. Work with the Fellowship Committee as needed in planning special events including
a meal – such as Easter breakfast, the Christmas "celebration" (dinner, dessert, etc.)
and the Valentines party.
Note: It is recommended that the Kitchen Chairperson initiate a meeting with the
Fellowship Chair at the beginning of each year to review areas that
require cooperative planning well in advance.
8. Notify the Facilities Committee of needed repairs.
9. Keep Kitchen guidelines and policies posted.
10. Submit annual budget request for the Kitchen Committee.
